Part 3.
Bleriot Chapter 1 - Behind the Scenes - When all the information is gathered, an outline is created, usually in a form no more detailed than bullet points, in order to gain an overview of the story to be told. This goes through a few variations until the desired story has been found. This is then expanded to an synopsis, usually going through more changes. I then do what I call a 'Breakdown' where I write a description of each panel. This too goes through a few more changes. Then once this breakdown has gotten to a point where it's felt it can't progress any more, the script is written.

This too can go through some changes. The Artwork was drawn from the third draft of the script.
The Pencilled pages for the first part.
The next step is to do the Lettering. Although this is not
always the case, I like to do this to make sure the text
fits in the space that's been allocated. If anything has to be
redrawn, it's a lot easier when in pencil.
The Pencils are then Inked over. For this project, and for about 95% of the art, I used a Brush (Isabey 6227z #3) and Black Indian Ink. The rest was with a Pentel Brush Pen. A Rotring Tikki Graphic 0.3 was used for the panel borders. When the Ink has dried, the art is then scanned into the Computer and is then coloured. Once complete this is then combined with the lettering and made ready for final output. The finished version of these pages can be seen in Issue 1 of Volume 6 of Aces Weekly.
