#FWW100 Timeline

Fonck was France's greatest flying ace in the First World War. Somewhat arrogant and proud, he tended to ruffle everyone's feathers and was not always very popular. However, he was undeniably brilliant.

What made him tick? Well, keep an eye on his First World War One Hundred #FWW100 timeline as it unfolds:~

  • René Paul Fonck was born on 27 March 1894 in Saulcy-sur-Meurthe, a village in north eastern France.
  • In 1913 Fonck was 19 years old. He was very interested in the new-fangled aviation mania that was sweeping the age. But becoming a pilot was not a serious consideration. Little did he know how soon his life would change!

  • Logo P.S. Fonck's fascinating, true story is brought to life in Volume 2 of International Aces!
